THE FPCUP ACTION 2019-2-49

The action of this Supplementary Work Programme is a Tier 2 action (Global actions) and involves Copernicus Relay or Copernicus Academy members for their implementation. Is corresponds to Action 2019-2-49: Developing support for monitoring and reporting of GHG emissions and removals from land use, land use change and forestry (LULUCF).

The objective of the Action is to monitor and report greenhouse gas emissions and removals from land use, land use change and forestry (LULUCF). Relevant Commission Regulations are EU 2018/841 (LULUCF Regulation), EU 2018/1999 and the current one EU 525/2013 (mechanism for monitoring and reporting GHG emissions). However, across the EU member states, the reporting of emissions is inconsistent, with different methods and data sources being employed. Under the adopted LULUCF Regulation, the EU Member States are expected to report their greenhouse gas emissions and removals from land use change and forestry consistently and new methods and available data of the Cipernicus program can enhance and complement mapping needs.
